As This Day Comes to a Close…

A fellow blogger asked the question, “What does Easter mean to you?” I responded,

“I was a prisoner of my own sin nature, bound with heavy chains, condemned to everlasting death and hopelessness. Then Someone offered to take my penalty on Himself, and as He suffered excruciating death, my chains fell off, and I was free!

“But free to go where? – Now what?

“Next thing I know, there He stands – He’s ALIVE! He looks at me with love and says, “Follow Me.” And life is just beginning.

And that’s what Easter means to me.

  1. Yes. Amen. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed with awe and gratitude for what our Lord Jesus has done for me, that I can’t thank Him and praise Him enough.

  8. Such joy in your words, Annie, and expressive of glorious truth! Life with Jesus began for me decades ago, and what an adventure it has been so far! God has taken me places I never expected to go, and propelled me to do things I never expected to do. What would life have been like without him? I shudder to think!

    1. Amen Nancy! It’s hard to boil it down to a few words, but there it is.
      When I was being interviewed to become a member of my church, the last question the pastor asked was how I would share the gospel with someone on an elevator. “You have 30 seconds… GO.” That really motivated this talker to make it more of a habit to get to the point! 😏🙄

      1. Annie, that’s a great question posed by your pastor. It brings to mind, a video about a man who was shot. When he called 911 (the emergency line in the US) he spent his last few moments on Earth sharing the Gospel with the dispatcher who answered the call. The story is told by Living Waters ministry, at the link below.

  9. What a wonderful story, Manette!
    It reminds me of an airplane crash survivor telling about the moments when they knew their plane was going down. Her husband was making his way down the aisle, talking to each passenger and occasionally looking at her, smiling and giving a thumbs-up. He did not survive, but his wife believes some of the others who went into eternity that day went to heaven with him, because he was obedient to his last breath.
    So, we have two more great examples to emulate. 💕
